Office Professional adds three programmes: Microsoft Publisher, to create documents for print and Web; Microsoft Access, a database programme; and Microsoft InfoPath, to manage forms-based data.

Built on shared technologies, with particular emphasis on consistency in function and style, the Office programmes also take great advantage of the new communication and collaboration tools — including support for Extensible Markup Language (XML).
