Requirements: 

Hardware:

· x64-architecture-based computer with Intel processor that supports Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T) or AMD processor that supports the AMD64 platform

· 2 GB or more RAM per server; for recommended memory configurations based on specific usage profiles and other factors, see Exchange Server 2007 Processor Memory Recommendations

· Hard disk:

· 1.2 GB free space on the hard disk where you install Exchange Server 2007

· 200 MB of free space on the system drive

· Additional 500 MB free space per language if installing language packs for Unified Messaging beyond those included in the default installation

· Disk partitions formatted for the NTFS file system, not the FAT file system

· DVD drive, local or network accessible

Important: Intel Itanium family IA64 processors are not supported.

Software:

· Windows 2003 Server x64, Standard or Enterprise edition; Windows Server 2003 R2 x64, Standard or Enterprise edition

If the following required prerequisites are not already installed, the Exchange Server 2007 setup process prompts and provides links to the installation location:

· Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0

· Microsoft Management Console (MMC) 3.0

· Windows PowerShell

· Microsoft Active Directory; applies to all server roles except for Edge Transport

· Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) SP1; applies to Edge Transport server role

Additional software required to use specific features in Exchange Server 2007:

  • For Outlook Anywhere (RPC/HTTP) — Outlook 2003/2007 on Windows XP with SP2 or later or Windows Server 2003

Client:

  • For basic email access — any POP3- IMAP4-compatible email client
  • For extended features — Outlook 2003/2007 (Windows) or Entourage 2004 (Mac)

Description: 

Exchange Server 2007 provides a collaboration environment that delivers secure messaging capabilities to recipients inside and outside an organization. Besides a powerful email server, it supports group scheduling capabilities, discussion groups, team folders, mobile and Web access, and a host of other features.

Exchange Server 2007 Enterprise Edition is designed for large organisations. It allows 50 databases and 50 storage groups. Data storage is limited only by hardware capacity. The Enterprise Edition also supports Single Copy Clusters and Cluster Continuous Replication, in addition to Local Continuous Replication. Smaller organisations should consider Exchange Server 2007 Standard Edition.

The 2007 version runs only on x64 hardware, which makes more efficient use of memory and storage than 32-bit hardware. It also features numerous improvements in protection, remote access, and operational efficiency. If your server computer does not support x64 software, a downgrade to Exchange Server 2003 is available through Microsoft’s Software Assurance programme.

This product includes a server license. Every user or device accessing Exchange Server must have a standard Exchange Server user or device client access license (CAL). Enterprise Exchange Server CALs (user or device) are needed for certain server functions; they can be used only in conjunction with standard Exchange Server CALs.

Installing this product requires a license key and installation media. After your order is processed, instructions for obtaining the license key will be sent to your organisation email address.
