  • Under the Software Assurance programme, customers acquire the right to install any new release of products covered in the agreement during the term of their coverage.
  • Word contains familiar document and connectivity features — text and page formatting, multiple views, editing tools, printing and save options, graphics, and document control — and adds increased emphasis on shared markup capabilities, rights management, and interactivity with other programmes.
  • Excel allows users to enter, import, analyze and track data and to use the data to generate charts and graphs, create preformatted templates — even output the data to the Web.
  • Powerpoint allows users to create slide-show presentations with text, graphics, and multimedia elements. Users can run the presentation live, publish it on the Web, or create a CD with a built-in viewer programme.
  • Outlook provides a single, integrated solution for organising and managing digital communication tools such as email and instant messaging, along with all day-to-day information such as calendars, contacts, task lists, and notes. Outlook’s work-sharing and coordinating features can give an office a new level of teamwork productivity.

Built on shared technologies, with particular emphasis on consistency in function and style, the Office programmes also take great advantage of the new communication and collaboration tools — including support for Extensible Markup Language (XML).
