Instant messaging (IM) text archiving requires a separate server running SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition or SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition with Service Pack 3a. Installation of the User Services Component of Live Communication Server 2005 Standard Edition results in the installation of a dedicated SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE) Service Pack 3a database.

Client:

Description: 
Live Communications Server 2005 provides instant messaging (IM) capabilities such as presence awareness, multiparty conversations, logging, and archiving, and features a familiar user experience that integrates with Microsoft Office System programmes. IM control includes filters for spam over IM (SPIM) and messages that contain URLs or that attempt file transfers.

Industry-standard protocols support development of customized real-time communication solutions, including chat, video and audio conferencing, and telephony. User authentication and permissions can be simplified through Active Directory service.

Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 support adds capabilities such as extended presence, integration with Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Exchange Server, and lets users control enterprise phones directly from their PCs.

Please note: Live Communications Server 2005 works in conjunction with the Windows Server 2003 operating system, and uses Windows Messenger 5.1 client.

This is a server license only. Each user or device that accesses Live Communications Server must have a Live Communications Server user or device client access license (CAL) or be covered by an external connector (EC) license.

Installing this product requires a license key and installation media. If you don’t already have it, please request the free installation media when prompted during checkout.
