About Microsoft

Microsoft is a lead product donor of TechDonation, as well as an advocate and funder for the expansion of the TechSoup Global platform. Software donations are a key part of the company’s global citizenship commitment to bring the benefits of relevant, accessible and affordable technology to those who do not currently have it. Microsoft believes NGOs deserve access to the best technology tools to do their important work in their communities, and donates its software in support of their goals.

Since 2005, Microsoft has donated over HK$5 million worth of software licenses to NGOs in Hong Kong. With TechDonation, the company’s commitment to supporting the voluntary sector has been further expanded: the range of NGOs eligible to receive software donations has been extended beyond social service charities to also include other types of NGOs such as cultural, arts and environmental organizations. Participating members are able to continuously stay up to date with software upgrades for every two years.

TechDonation extends the Worldwide Software Donations Program through the TechSoup Global Platform to Hong Kong’s and Macau's NGOs. Since the launch of this highly-successful program, Microsoft has donated more than US$29 million worth of software to nearly 3,000 organizations in eleven countries (not including its donations in the US and Canada). More than 50 products are available on the TechSoup platform.
